TANDEM Cat® professional training

Feline Handling Training

Advanced feline-specific training for veterinary, grooming, boarding, shelter, and rescue professionals.

Cats communicate differently than dogs. They respond differently to stress. They experience handling differently.

Yet many professionals receive little formal education in feline-specific handling, behavior, regulation, and clinical observation. The result is often increased fear, reduced cooperation, staff injuries, unnecessary escalation, and missed opportunities to build trust.

TANDEM Cat® Feline Handling Training was developed to address this gap through a structured educational pathway built around TANDEM Touch™, trauma-informed feline care, and Feline Observation Medicine™.

A Complete Learning Pathway for Cat Professionals

This training library is organized as a professional education system, not a collection of disconnected articles.

The pathway begins with observation, moves into interpretation, teaches trauma-informed response, and then supports practical implementation through TANDEM Touch™ and hands-on feline handling training.

What Makes Feline Handling Different?

Many animal care handling techniques were built around canine behavior, obedience, and restraint models. Cats require a different framework.

Successful feline handling depends on recognizing body language, stress signals, fear responses, shutdown, pain indicators, regulation capacity, recovery patterns, and communication through touch.

The most effective professionals are not necessarily those who can restrain cats most efficiently. They are often the professionals who understand cats most deeply.

The TANDEM Touch™ Difference

At the center of our training philosophy is TANDEM Touch™. TANDEM Touch™ views handling as communication rather than restraint.

Rather than asking, “How do I make this cat cooperate?” we ask, “What is this cat communicating?”

Core Training Libraries

Each training library supports a different part of the professional learning pathway. Together, they create a structured foundation for safer, more observant, more effective feline care.

Who Should Attend?

Why Training Matters

Every interaction influences future outcomes. A handling session today may shape tomorrow’s veterinary visit, grooming appointment, boarding adjustment, medication compliance, adoption success, and trust in caregivers.

The most successful professionals understand that handling is never just about the moment. It is about the relationship created through that moment.

Start Your Training Journey

Whether you are a veterinarian, technician, groomer, boarding professional, rescue worker, shelter team member, or feline behavior specialist, advanced handling skills can transform the way you work with cats.

Explore the training library, learn the principles of TANDEM Touch™, and discover a deeper approach to feline care built on observation, trust, communication, and understanding.

Because the future of feline handling belongs to professionals who can see beyond behavior and understand the cat behind it.

Case study system

Continue Through the TANDEM Cat® System

This case is part of a larger Cats in the City care system. The client-facing case library helps guardians recognize what they may be seeing in their own cat. The clinical case studies provide the documented, authority layer behind the work.

Readable cases help guardians understand the pattern. Documented cases preserve the clinical structure behind the care.
