Feline-Only Cat Boarding in Sellwood, Portland

Cats in the City provides private-suite boarding in Sellwood for cats who need quiet territory, predictable routines, daily communication, and care that can scale from an ordinary stay to a medically complex one. Cats are housed privately and are never mixed with cats from other households.

Bonded cats from the same family can stay together when appropriate, and Sellwood is the location where we concentrate our highest-acuity boarding support, including diabetic and medication-aware care.

Three ways to use Sellwood

Choose the boarding path that matches your cat.

The same feline-only environment can support very different stays. Start with ordinary private-suite boarding, a larger shared territory for a bonded family, or a care plan that includes medical and behavioral complexity.

Sellwood room guide

Private rooms built for different ways of being a cat.

Some cats climb immediately. Some remain at floor level. Some need a large shared territory with familiar companions. Sellwood rooms combine windows, hiding options, open floor space, vertical movement, and quiet observation so room fit can follow the cat.

Medical & special needs boarding

Sellwood can hold the whole care plan.

Some cats need more than meals, litter care, and a private room. They may need insulin, oral medication, inhalers, specialized diets, appetite protection, mobility accommodations, hydration awareness, or a team that can notice a change from baseline.

Sellwood concentrates Cats in the City’s highest-acuity boarding support and has on-site residential staff for overnight escalation. Medical needs are reviewed before acceptance so timing, staffing, records, supplies, and the room plan can be matched to the cat.

Reservation planning

Clear expectations for timing, billing, and peak dates

Check-in and check-out are appointment-only. Your accepted reservation confirms the approved window for your dates, including weekend or public-closure arrangements. The dedicated policy pages remain the source for current peak and holiday terms.

Appointment timing

Arrival and departure are scheduled rather than walk-in. Use the time confirmed in your accepted reservation so room turnover, medication timing, and care transitions remain coordinated.

Daily billing & minimum stay

Boarding is billed by the day for every calendar day the reservation touches. Standard reservations carry a minimum fee equal to three days at the selected room rate, and early returns do not create credits or refunds.

Deposit & cancellation

Standard reservations require a 50% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit after acceptance. Remaining estimated charges are collected at check-in; upgrades and incidentals are billed at check-out. No-shows remain responsible for the full reservation.

Peak & holiday dates

Peak and holiday reservations may change minimum stays, deposits, fees, and arrival or departure availability. Review the current peak-date page before finalizing travel.

Room rates and peak terms are maintained on dedicated pages.

Use these pages for the latest room rates, peak-date terms, and any date-specific arrival or departure information.

Frequently asked questions

Sellwood cat boarding FAQ

Answers to the questions most families need before submitting a request.

What is included in a Sellwood boarding stay?

Every stay includes private accommodations, routine feeding and litter care, daily updates and photos, bedding, environmental enrichment, and individualized attention. Special diets, medications, diabetic care, transportation, grooming, or other higher-support needs are reviewed as part of the care plan and may carry additional charges.

Can cats from the same household stay together?

Yes. Bonded family cats can share a larger suite when it is appropriate for their relationship and care needs. Cats are not mixed with cats from other households.

How do I choose a room?

Start with the number of cats, their relationship, mobility, use of vertical space, need for outdoor stimulation, and preference for open or more contained territory. Submit the request form and the team will help confirm room fit. Current room rates are maintained on the Sellwood rooms and rates page.

What are check-in and check-out hours?

Check-in and check-out are by appointment. Your accepted reservation provides the final arrival or departure window for your specific dates, including weekend and public-closure arrangements.

Can Sellwood care for diabetic cats or cats on medication?

Yes. Sellwood supports many stable cats with chronic conditions, including diabetic cats and cats requiring medication, special diets, inhalers, appetite observation, or closer monitoring. Care needs must be disclosed in the request so staffing, timing, records, and supplies can be reviewed before acceptance.

How do deposits, cancellations, and peak dates work?

Standard reservations require a 50% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit after acceptance and carry a three-day minimum fee. Peak and holiday terms may differ. Review the current peak dates and fees page before finalizing travel.

How do I request Sellwood boarding?

Use the care and boarding request form and select Sellwood. Include medical conditions, medications, feeding requirements, behavioral sensitivities, bonded-family needs, and preferred dates so the team can review the complete stay.
