Cats in the City provides private-suite boarding in Sellwood for cats who need quiet territory, predictable routines, daily communication, and care that can scale from an ordinary stay to a medically complex one. Cats are housed privately and are never mixed with cats from other households.
Bonded cats from the same family can stay together when appropriate, and Sellwood is the location where we concentrate our highest-acuity boarding support, including diabetic and medication-aware care.
Three ways to use Sellwood
The same feline-only environment can support very different stays. Start with ordinary private-suite boarding, a larger shared territory for a bonded family, or a care plan that includes medical and behavioral complexity.

Sellwood room guide
Some cats climb immediately. Some remain at floor level. Some need a large shared territory with familiar companions. Sellwood rooms combine windows, hiding options, open floor space, vertical movement, and quiet observation so room fit can follow the cat.
Family suite | 1–6 cats
A large continuous territory for bonded cats from the same household, with vertical climbing systems, open floor space, windows, resting furniture, and direct access to a secure garden-view catio.
Elective enrichment
Sunlight, fresh air, garden movement, and neighborhood sound are available as a choice rather than a requirement. Cats can enter, observe, retreat, and return to the room on their own rhythm.
Vertical territory
A long private room designed for climbers, with more than twenty perches and stairs, indoor and outdoor views, cubbies, beds, toys, and open space beneath the climbing route.
Large shared territory
A bright, spacious room with windows, wall-mounted movement systems, cubbies, furniture, beds, and enough territory for bonded family cats to remain together when appropriate.
Private furnished room
A sunlit private room with windows, climbing furniture, broad ledges, floor space, and quiet retreat options for cats who prefer a clear, predictable layout.
Private studio room
Private rooms that vary in shape and include windows, climbing options, scratchers, beds, toys, cubbies, and enough separation for cats who value a smaller, clearly defined territory.
The stay itself
A room is only the visible part of the stay. The care system also holds routine, appetite, litterbox activity, behavior, engagement, medication instructions, communication, and the small changes that tell us whether a cat is adjusting.

Medical & special needs boarding
Some cats need more than meals, litter care, and a private room. They may need insulin, oral medication, inhalers, specialized diets, appetite protection, mobility accommodations, hydration awareness, or a team that can notice a change from baseline.
Sellwood concentrates Cats in the City’s highest-acuity boarding support and has on-site residential staff for overnight escalation. Medical needs are reviewed before acceptance so timing, staffing, records, supplies, and the room plan can be matched to the cat.
Reservation planning
Check-in and check-out are appointment-only. Your accepted reservation confirms the approved window for your dates, including weekend or public-closure arrangements. The dedicated policy pages remain the source for current peak and holiday terms.
Arrival and departure are scheduled rather than walk-in. Use the time confirmed in your accepted reservation so room turnover, medication timing, and care transitions remain coordinated.
Boarding is billed by the day for every calendar day the reservation touches. Standard reservations carry a minimum fee equal to three days at the selected room rate, and early returns do not create credits or refunds.
Standard reservations require a 50% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit after acceptance. Remaining estimated charges are collected at check-in; upgrades and incidentals are billed at check-out. No-shows remain responsible for the full reservation.
Peak and holiday reservations may change minimum stays, deposits, fees, and arrival or departure availability. Review the current peak-date page before finalizing travel.

Every stay includes private accommodations, routine feeding and litter care, daily updates and photos, bedding, environmental enrichment, and individualized attention. Special diets, medications, diabetic care, transportation, grooming, or other higher-support needs are reviewed as part of the care plan and may carry additional charges.

All our rooms are big. The real question is: Do you want big, bigger or biggest? Each facility averages 4,000 square feet with about 30 rooms.
Our cat hotels are clean and comfortable. Every room has hospital-grade flooring and is ventilated with clean fresh air, central heating, and cooling.
Our boarding facilities are clean and designed for cats. Our expert team has extensive training in cat behavior and handling.
Our Human-to-Cat Ratio is one great team member for every 7-10 rooms. We’re also qualified to care for cats with medical needs, and we have animal technicians and a behaviorist on staff.
We use our collective professional experience during the grooming process to adapt and modify grooming procedures prioritizing safety, temperament, and ability of the individual cat before us.
We’re not a cat warehouse. Cats are given the opportunity to be in the playrooms, community rooms, and catios, as well as lots of personalized loving care and attention.
