Ollie: Square-Inch Unthreading for a Medically Complex Senior
Ollie’s coat had stopped functioning normally under Level 4 compaction, Level 2 matting, and Level 3-4 dandruff. Arthritis, kidney disease, and a heart murmur meant the restoration method had to reduce physical strain as well as coat burden.

What Level 4 compaction meant in practice
The coat was heavily impacted with retained undercoat. It no longer moved freely and carried extensive dandruff. Level 2 matting added discrete areas of tension, while hygiene needs required a Level 2 sanitary trim.
The medical history did not create a single prohibited technique. It created a requirement for continuous judgment: how long to work, how to position, how much mechanical pressure to use, and how frequently to reassess comfort.
