Structured Cat Rehoming for Cats Who Need More Than Standard Placement

Some cats do not fail because they are “bad cats.” They fail because the environment, stress load, medical needs, household structure, or transition process stopped fitting the cat.

FELINE TRANSITIONS® is a structured rehoming and stabilization framework developed for cats who need more than a shelter listing, rushed placement, or simple owner surrender.

Surrender diversion High-needs placement Behavioral stabilization Medical-aware transitions Fit-based matching
Why this exists

The Space Between “Everything Is Fine” and Shelter Surrender

Many guardians reach a point where the situation feels unsustainable long before they truly want to surrender their cat.

Sometimes the issue is medical complexity. Sometimes it is caregiver burnout. Sometimes it is litter box breakdown, inter-cat stress, housing instability, coat neglect, aging decline, medication overwhelm, or behavioral shutdown.

Structured rehoming is not simply “giving up a cat.” Often it is an attempt to create a safer long-term outcome for both the cat and the guardian.

Our role is to slow the process down, assess the whole picture, and determine whether stabilization, support, environmental restructuring, or structured placement offers the safest path forward.

Structured Rehoming Resource Pathways

Important distinction

This Is Not a Fast Intake Pipeline

We are not structured around volume-based shelter turnover.

Structured rehoming is slower, more observational, and more individualized because the goal is not simply to move cats quickly.

The goal is durable placement, reduced stress load, improved fit, and safer long-term outcomes.
