Flea Dirt Test

If you suspect that your cat may have fleas, there are a few signs you can look out for. One of the easiest ways to detect fleas is by finding flea dirt on your cat’s coat. Flea dirt is the waste produced by fleas and is often described as being iron-rich. To check for flea dirt, you can use a flea comb to carefully lift it from your cat’s fur and then tap it onto a sheet of white paper. Once the flea dirt is on the paper, mist it with water and wait for about a minute. If the dirt dissolves into pinkish red droplets, it confirms the presence of fleas and indicates that your cat has a flea problem that needs to be addressed. Taking immediate action is important to ensure the health and comfort of your feline companion.
